Dr. Alireza Firooz is a distinguished dermatologist and academic leader based in Tehran, Iran. He serves as a Professor of Dermatology at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and is the Director of the Center for Research and Training in Skin Diseases and Leprosy, as well as the Clinical Trial Center at TUMS.
Dr. Firooz earned his M.D. from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1990 and completed his specialization in dermatology in 1995. He further pursued advanced training with a fellowship in Immunodermatology at Harvard Medical School in the United States.
His research and clinical interests span a broad range of topics including evidence-based dermatology, immune-mediated inflammatory skin diseases, skin biometrology, lasers and other energy-based devices, injectables, cosmeceuticals, and cutaneous leishmaniasis.
Dr. Firooz has made substantial contributions to the field of dermatology, authoring over 240 scientific publications, contributing to several textbooks, and actively serving as a reviewer and editorial board member for various international dermatology journals. As of April 2025, his research impact is reflected in an H-index of 38 and over 4,460 citations, according to Scopus.
